鈴木さんのお仕事は？

入社から現在まで、『マネーフォワード クラウド』の開発チームで、エンジニアリングマネージャーを務めています。

このチームは、日本にあるマネーフォワードと、ベトナムにあるマネーフォワードのグループ会社 Money Foward Vietnam （以下 MFV）との混合チームです。僕は1年半前に日本からベトナムに移住し、現在はMFVでベトナムのエンジニアやQAメンバーと一緒に、プロダクト開発を行っています。

僕の仕事は、各案件や課題におけるプランニング、複数の開発グループの間のリソース調整、各プロジェクトやグループにおける課題の整理や壁打ちなどがメインです。

仕事で1番大切にしていることは？

「誰もやったことがないことをやる」です。

これは仕事に限らず、自分の生き方の指針と言えるものです。

誰かがすでに歩いた道であれば、過去の事例や知見があるので、それをなぞったり反省点を活かしたりすることで、成功につなげやすいかもしれません。でも、その成功では、今あるものの域を超えることはできません。

それでも十分なのかもしれませんが、人生は一度きり、どうせなら誰も歩いたことのない道を歩く方がおもしろいですよね。そして、想定を超えるプロダクト成長も、自分らしいキャリア形成も、そういった新しい道の先にこそあるのだと思っています。

この考えは相容れないという人もいるかもしれません。でも、僕はいつもこの考えを持って行動し、その上でやりたい仕事ができたら幸せだなと思います。

最近仕事で1番うれしかったことは？

チームの成長です。

日本向けのバックオフィス向けのプロダクトを、ベトナムと日本の混合チームによって、ベトナムで作るという状況の中、これまで様々な試行錯誤を経て開発を行ってきました。

現在では、チーム内で案件や役割ごとのグループに分かれ、それぞれのミッションを掲げるなどして、プロダクトに対する意義やコミットが高まっているのを感じます。

まだまだ、よりよい理想のチームを目指している所ではありますが、自分の中では大きな変化だと感じていますし、すごくたくさんの人に支えられてここまで来られたと思っています。

Relay Interview vol.8 Engineering Manager Ryohei Suzuki

In the "Relay Interview" series, Money Forward members answer questions and pass the relay baton along to the next person.

The baton has been passed to Ryohei Suzuki, who belongs to Money Forward Vietnam , from Cuong Hoang (Nim) in vol.7.

Su is an Engineering Manager who is proficient in both English and Vietnamese. During meetings, he is quick to clarify any misunderstandings and ensure that both Vietnamese and Japanese engineers are on the same page. In many ways, Su serves as a bridge between the two teams. His ability to communicate effectively and navigate cultural differences is a valuable asset in this globalized workplace. I am eager to learn more about his experiences and insights.

What kind of work do you do?

From the time I joined the company to the present, I have been working as an Engineering Manager in the development team for "Money Forward Cloud".

This team is a mixture of Money Forward in Japan and Money Forward's group company Money Forward Vietnam ('MFV') in Vietnam. I moved to Vietnam from Japan one and a half years ago. Currently, I work with Vietnamese engineers and QA members at MFV on product development.

My main tasks are planning each project and issue, coordinating resources between multiple development groups, and organizing issues and walloping in each project or group.

What is your most important policy in your work?

“Do what no one has ever done before”.

This is a guideline for my way of life, not just for work.

If someone has already walked the path, there are examples and findings from the past, so it may be easy to succeed by tracing that path or making use of the lessons learned. But that success will not take you beyond what you have now. That may be enough, but I believe that you only live once, so it is more interesting to walk down a path that no one has walked before anyway. And I believe that both product growth beyond the expected and the development of a career that is unique to me can be found at the end of a new path.

Some people may find this idea difficult to accept. But I always act with this idea in mind, and if I can do the work I want to do on that basis, I will be happy.

What has made you happiest recently in your work?

Team growth.

We have been developing a back-office product for Japan by a mixed Vietnamese-Japanese team in a situation where the product was created in Vietnam, through various trial and error processes.

Today, the team is divided into groups according to projects and roles, each with its own mission, and I sense that the significance and commitment to the product is growing.

We are still working towards a better ideal team, but I feel that this is a big change for me and I have been supported by so many people to get this far.
